Sue the Collector’s scholarship on The Underworld of Fake/Spammy Debt Collectors is open to all current college students and incoming college freshmen. To be eligible, an applicant must submit a 500 to 1,000-word essay on the dangers of unfair, abusive debt collection practices.
Within 60 days of the June 15, 2021 deadline, Sue the Collector will form a scholarship selection committee to select a winner. The committee’s decision will be final.
Any submission that is not entered on or before the deadline will be excluded from consideration. Sue the Collector is not responsible for glitches, technical errors, or other issues that may cause submission delays.
Privacy Policy
Sue the Collector respects the privacy of its scholarship applicants. We will use private data and contact information for the purpose of evaluating entrants, selecting a winner, and notifying applicants. This information is not stored for any other purpose.
Names, contact information, academic standing, and other personal data will NOT be made public. Nor will it be shared, distributed, sold, copied, or otherwise given to outside parties.
Sue the Collector may release the identity of the winning applicant, as well as their winning essay, either on this website or on third-party websites. This is for the purpose of publicity.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Sue the Collector values an environment rich in diversity. The scholarship selection committee will NOT discriminate on the basis of any protected class, including race, gender, sexuality, veteran status, disability, ethnicity, country of origin, etc.
The $2,500 scholarship will be awarded solely on the merits of the essay provided by the applicant. Factors that may affect eligibility include:
- Either entering college or being a current college student
- Having a favorable academic record
- Writing original, non-plagiarized content
- Providing honest, truthful personal and contact information
Announcement of the Winner
Upon completion of the selection process, Sue the Collector will contact the winning applicant. An announcement will be posted on our website within 60 days of the deadline (June 15, 2021). The announcement will suffice as a notification for all other applicants of their status; Sue the Collector is not obligated to contact each applicant.
